Down the Rabbit Hole and Supermoon Owl Art Prints

We’re releasing a couple of new art prints in our Etsy Shop that were as part of two local group shows.

The first titled “Down the Rabbit Hole” was for “The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party” an Alice in Wonderland themed show at Starkweather Arts Center in Romeo, MI. It is a two color screen print, measures 12″ x 24″, and is of an edition of 40. The show is up now through May 26th, so be sure to swing by the gallery if you’re in the area.

The second print “Supermoon Owl” was for an owl themed group show, “Night Vision”, curated by Con Artist Crew in Grand Rapids, MI. It is a one color screen print, measures 16″ x 20″ and is also of an edition of 40.

Both “Down the Rabbit Hole” and “Super Moon Owl” are priced at $25 and are available in our Etsy Shop now.

Oakleaf and Acorn Hang Tags

We were asked by the Oakleaf and Acorn, a wonderful men’s clothing and accessory store based out of Braselton, Georgia to create two hang tags for their store. John, the owner wanted a design that reflected the rustic, yet high quality that all of his products possess. We came up with designs for an ax head and a bottle of whiskey. The tags are two color screen prints on chipboard. We think that the slightly worn textured of the printing combined with the natural imperfections in chipboard represents the hand made aesthetic of everything in his store.

Kira Sheker has many artistic talents, including illustration, metalsmithing, and novel writing, but my favorite is her talent for photography. Washed out, dreamlike, and sometimes blurred, she often uses vintage cameras and double exposure to achieve these effects.

I love when we get submissions from the other end of the earth. Jordan Debney is a self-taught artist from New Zealand who sent us his illustration portfolio. He describes his drive to create as “a constant need to turn something beautiful into the form of a grotesque creature, usually a creature, which in its abnormal form, is barfing every organ”. 2012 Matchbox Showcase Gigposter and Art Print

We were asked for the second year in a row to design and print a poster for The Matchbox Showcase that takes place during South by South West (see last years design here). This years Showcase was held at The Dirty Dog in Austin, Texas on March 15th.

We also have an art print version of the print now available in our Etsy Shop. The art print is two colors on 100lb French Berrylicious paper and measures 16″ x 20″. The print is limited to a limited edition of 40 and costs $25.

One of the most talented artists I’ve ever met, Laura Barnhard, has her first ever solo show, “The Believe Show” opening on April 7th at Start Gallery. Having missed the chance to see her GIANT piece for Art Prize, I can’t wait to see the new work she has for this show. The opening reception is from 7pm – 11pm and the show runs through April 28th.

Recap: Homage @ River’s Edge

River’s Edge Gallery put together a huge group show titled “Homage”. Over 60 artists had the chance to pay tribute to another artist through their piece. The opening packed the gallery like I’ve never seen it. There was so much to see and so many people there, this time our photo gallery doesn’t reflect even half of what was on the walls. See it for yourself at the closing reception this Friday, March 16 from 6-10 pm.
